Next I will draw the character from a front and side angle. As mentioned in my previous post, I will be ignoring the clothing and equipment for now so I can focus on getting the body shape correct.

Character Height
The first step in research the shadow warrior is to look at the height of the character. From the reading material Prof. Garvey recommended me, I have measured the shadow warrior to be 9 heads tall. Humans are typically 7 or 8 heads tall, and in the Warhammer world, elves such as the shadow warrior I am drawing are taller than humans, so this would make sense. Ignoring the cone shaped helmet, I measured the head height as closely as I could in this concept art.

Next I will draw the character from a front and side angle. As mentioned in my previous post, I will be ignoring the clothing and equipment for now so I can focus on getting the body shape correct.

Sam,
ReplyDeleteThis is a good start. However something to be mindful of is that it looks like the character is rendered in 3 point perspective. See http://artintegrity.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/3-vanishing-points.jpg
Consider how the feet look large compared to the head, and hands. The shoulders are relatively narrow. The trunk (chest to the pelvis) looks unnaturally elonglated--but this proportional issue is obscured by the length of the armoured/chainmail Hauberk or shirt.
8 heads might be a better fit?
